Classical music fans will be delighted with masterful showmanship and the great acoustics of the auditorium when the Cascade Theatre and the Musical Arts League present A Touch of Classical Piano. The annual concert features brilliant performances by world class pianists and composers, all who have studied with Duane Hampton. Hampton is an internationally renowned pianist, composer and master teacher, who brings these talented musicians together from all over the world for one evening each year on the Cascade Theatre stage. Returning favorites will include Kevin Woodruff, Nathaniel Bell, Samuel Knight, brothers Jonathan and Matthew Adams, the mother/daughter team of Grace and Esther Ramley and scholarship award winner Tanya Plescia. This year's program will feature a performance of Beethoven's Appassionata Sonata by Kevin Woodruff. Plescia, originally from Hungary, will dazzle the audience with the work of her native country's most beloved composer Franz Liszt. The evening will also include the U.S. premiere of a new composition by Duane Hampton performed by Nathaniel Bell. Following the concert there will be an opportunity to socialize with the performers during a champagne reception held on the theatre stage. An additional ticket is required for the reception. In conjunction with this concert, applications for a one-year scholarship will be accepted for one advanced student to study with Hampton for a full year and to perform at next year's concert. For details and an application, please check the Touch of Classical listing on the Cascade Theatre website or call the Hampton School of Music at 530-243-8582.
